Ringbrothers Does It Again: Kingpin Mustang Restomod

SEMA is an overwhelming place with countless modified cars, SUVs, and trucks packed into the LVCC’s indoor halls and even the huge parking lot outside. OEM-backed builds are flooding the event, but when it comes to restomodding classics, no one can come close to Jim and Mike brothers. Or better known as Ringbrothers.

Their latest creation, revealed at this year’s SEMA Show, is Kingpin. It is a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 that is completely reimagined in true Ringbrothers fashion. The car has been revealed at Ringbrothers’ booth at Central Hall #23191.

Sinister Stance While Keeping the Original Lines

The car has an elongated and widened body while keeping the iconic lines of the Mustang Mach 1. The power comes from a 5.0-liter Coyote engine boosted to 800 HP with a Whipple supercharger. A complete independent suspension and beefy Brembo brakes take care of the handling duties.

While the bodywork still closely resembles the original, Ringbrothers widened the front end by up to 2 inches and the rear by 3.5 inches. The wheelbase is extended 1.5 inches forward and the end result is a menacing stance complete with wild HRE Vintage Series wheels. By saying wild, the wheels measure a whopping 20x13 inches at the back, wrapped with 345/30 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Whipple-supercharged 800-HP Coyote 5.0

Underneath the sinister-looking, BASF Glasurit Bootleg Black-painted bodywork, lies a Roadster Shop chassis that houses a Wegner Motorsports 5.0-liter Coyote V8 with a Whipple supercharger. The power unit makes 800 HP, and it is sent to the 345-section rear wheels through a Bowler Carbon Edition six-speed manual transmission.

The full custom interior is trimmed by Upholstery Unlimited in black leather. The dash features individual floating pods reminiscent of the original double-bubble design. The 3D-printed polished bronze grab handles, a billet gear lever finished in Grab-Her Green, and forged carbon fiber ENYO Ringbrothers steering wheel are only some of the incredible details that outfit the Kingpin’s cabin.

The Kingpin Mustang is the fruit of Ringbrothers’ over 5500 hours of work that left no panel or part untouched. It is parked right at the Ringbrothers’ booth at Central Hall #23191.
