WHAT IS THROTTLE LAG?

When you first press down on the accelerator, there is a delay before anything actually happens. Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) systems cause this as they take the signal from the accelerator pedal when you press it and send it to the vehicle’s ECU. All of this process causes a delay called throttle lag. Besides, manufacturers deliberately leave the delay there because it makes the vehicle suitable for various types of drivers.

Some may need such precautions, but the delay may become frustrating in some scenarios. Pedal Commander® is the easiest and most effective solution for Audi A5 drivers who want power instantly.

The Pedal Commander® throttle response controller modifies the signal from the throttle position sensor so the valve opens up completely and changes the speed at which it operates. The basic steps of the Pedal Commander® installation are always the same regardless of the vehicle's make and model:

Turn off the ignition and wait 10-15 minutes with your driver's door open to allow your ECU to shut down.

Disconnect your accelerator pedal assembly plug, then plug in the heads to connectors on the Pedal Commander® harness.

Clean up the area where you want to mount the control unit with the alcohol wipe. Stick the bracket with the supplied velcro.

After you make sure the cables are secure and won't be tangled, you are ready to enjoy Pedal Commander®.

A friend of mine had bought one for his dodge challenger and said I should try it, I did and was shocked at the results. He was shocked as well… I have an Audi A5 turbo which is a fairly fast car for a 4 cyl and upon taking him for a ride after installation he could not believe the car wasn’t a 6 cyl turbo. I am pleased with the purchase and would recommend it for everyone wanting a boost to performance. Great product, simple installation. It comes with a wired remote that you can adjust the boost with. Ranging from mild to extreme in performance.

I am currently a Stage 1 IE 93 Octane tune on my '14 Audi A5 which definitely helped wake the car up but it still had terrible peddle lag and would immediately shift into second unless you kept the pedal over 3/4 down. I figured I would try Pedal Commander being it is relatively in expensive and had good reviews. My honest opinion "keep in mind I am running a tune" is it Does exactly what it says it does. It adds no power to the vehicle but at the same time letting the vehicle get the air it needs immediately to make its own power. I have tried all modes and City gives me personally the best pedal feel and quicker downshifts with minimal pedal pressure. Eco mode is extremely ECO, "Don't pull out in traffic". Sport is a step above City and is even more responsive on the throttle. Finally there is Sport+ which is on the extreme side of sensitive with pedal responses. Over all I would recommend this product as a plug and play upgrade that does make the vehicle more fun to drive and It feels quicker overall even though it makes no added power

I installed the Pedal Commander in my 2021 Audi A5. The installation was a little nerve wracking as I had to remove the lower part of the dash to gain access to the accelerator. It wasn't hard, just required some time and care. Once installed it worked as advertised. It does make the car drive livelier. Not sure, but it seems to bypass the "S" setting, as it seems to shift differently. Is it a night and day difference? No, but it does make a difference in the performance.
