WHAT IS THROTTLE LAG?

Since the early 2000s, auto manufacturers have replaced traditional throttle cables with drive-by-wire systems. The older cable throttles provide a direct response, but the electronically controlled throttle systems have a noticeable delay. This is mainly caused by DBW systems relying on electronic signals between the gas pedal and the ECU. While DBW systems have many benefits, like enabling modern safety features and driving aids, the throttle lag takes the joy away from driving.

The Pedal Commander® throttle response controller connects to Dodge RAM’s gas pedal sensor using OEM plugs. It modifies the stock DBW throttle signal and removes all factory restrictions to eliminate throttle lag and enable better power delivery. The basic steps of the Pedal Commander® installation are always the same regardless of the vehicle's make and model:

Turn off the ignition and wait 10-15 minutes with your driver's door open to allow your ECU to shut down.

Disconnect your accelerator pedal assembly plug, then plug in the heads to connectors on the Pedal Commander® harness.

Clean up the area where you want to mount the control unit with the alcohol wipe. Stick the bracket with the supplied velcro.

After you make sure the cables are secure and won't be tangled, you are ready to enjoy Pedal Commander®.
